When you think about the top teams in North American Call of Duty, you think about OpTic Gaming leading the pack, alongside Rise Nation and FaZe clan. What about H2k-Gaming? Or maybe Dream Team? Somehow, all of these teams are currently sharing a 5-2 win/loss record at the top of the NA Stage 2 league, with little in the way of map count to differentiate between first and fifth. Somehow, only two of these teams will be facing off against each other this week, so the race for first seems set to stay incredibly close for a few weeks longer. We’ve got some exciting matches this week, with considerably less mis-matches than Europe. We’re going to be looking towards the bottom of the table this week, at two of the largest franchises in eSports. They’ve had a rough introduction to Call of Duty, but this is sure to be a huge match for both teams.
Cloud 9 (8/11, Skybet) vs Team SoloMid (1/1, Skybet)
It doesn’t get much closer than this. Cloud9 and Team SoloMid have both had fairly slow openings to Stage 2. Cloud9 sit in 8th place with a 9-16 map win/loss record, while Team SoloMid sit slightly lower down the table in 11th place, but hold a very similar map record at 9-15. The bottom of the table is nearly as close as the top, with 5 teams sitting only 1 match win apart, so every game (and every map) counts. The Cloud9 squad are arguably having a rougher time recently, though. Currently on a 5 match losing streak, it’s not out of the question to suspect that C9 are in a bit of a rut. Team SoloMid aren’t having a much better time, but are only on a 3 losing streak. We suspect this will have less of an effect upon TSM, especially considering the maturity of the TSM players compared to the younger squad of Cloud9.
It’s certainly tough to call this one. Both of these teams have struggled, but do have real talent. It could really come down to who shows up on the day. We’ve got to suspect that TSM, who have a touch more experience, have the greater ability to finish the game out in game 5, which tips the balance in their favour. Of course Cloud9 didn’t make it to the CoD World League without some great skill in their ranks, but at 8/11 we don’t see a lot of value here. We’re giving TSM the edge, making them a good bet at 1/1.
Recommended Bet: Team SoloMid (1/1, Skybet)
