With ESWC behind us, we can really get back into the CoD World League. It was a wild weekend, and certainly a strong showing for the European squads. Never before have we seen names like Splice taking out heavyweight North American teams like Rise Nation. There is a lot to be said not only for the improvements in European performance, but the increase in legitimacy of European Call of Duty on whole. With that said, it’s time for another week of league action! It looks like odds are thin on the ground this week, so we’re going to be taking a look at one specific matchup and giving our analysis.
Team Vitality (11/10, Ladbrokes) vs. Giants Gaming (2/3, Ladbrokes)
It has been a tough ride for Team Vitality through the opening stages of the CoD World League. The fan favourite squad have really been struggling to make any noise in the upper half of the table, and only re-qualified for Stage 2 via the relegation tournament. They move into Stage 2 without any roster changes, keeping the squad of Gotaga, Riskin, Wailers and Broken. We have a lot of respect for this squad. Not only have they persevered through a rough season opening, but they’ve stuck together as a squad and continue to fight it out every week and are looking to improve instead of dropping their players in favour of newer, unproven talent. Does respect translate into results though? Clearly not yet, at least. Stage 2 is off to another slow start going 0-6 against a range of teams, including the sruggling Exertus team. Giant’s Gaming are off to a slightly better start this season. The Spanish squad are currently 2-3 in the league, picking up victories over Exertus and (surprisingly), Millennium. They move into Stage 2 with a squad of Tojor, Methodz, Lgend and Sammy.
It’s hard to call this one for sure. A team like Giant’s can have significantly different games depending on connection and who gets the majority of host for the series. With that said, connection is definitely less of an issue from Spain to France than Spain to the UK, and Vitality don’t seem to be able to get off the mark this yet in Stage 2. At 2/3, there’s a lot of reason to put faith in Giant’s Gaming.
Recommended Bet: Giant’s Gaming (2/3, Ladbrokes)
