Boy, does it feel good to usher in a flood of Call of Duty World League events once again. While Black Ops 3 saw a weekly league format dominate the year, Infinite Warfare is shaping up to be much more event focused, with a LAN league kicking off in April. This weekend, however, we’ve got something special, MLG Atlanta. With a worldwide roster of 16 teams eyeing up the $200,000 prize pool, this event is looking to cement itself in Call of Duty history alongside previous monstrous events like MLG Finals.

Since it’s Friday, it is -of course- pool play day! That means a whole host of games to put your money on. Usually that would also mean mismatches and poor value odds, but with a full selection of teams from across the world (and only 12 automatic pool play qualifications), almost every game is too close to call. Odds are being offered on most, if not all, matches throughout pool play (with the exception of tomorrow’s matches against the top teams who make it through the open bracket) by both Skybet and Bet365.

Top Tips

For a team who struggled considerably throughout MLG Las Vegas and are consistently finishing 3-8th in MLG GameBattles 2K Series, the odds for OpTic Gaming are still indicating that people are happy to flood money behind the team no matter how short the odds get. As usual we would recommend avoiding backing OpTic Gaming, especially on a Friday where they infamously struggle. Also in classic fashion, EU teams have surprisingly attractive odds. At 9/2 (5.5, Bet365) versus OpTic Gaming (1/8, Bet365), Splyce may be worth a shot. Having finished 2nd at the 2017 CWL London Invitational, and bagging two 1st place victories and a single 2nd place finish in the EU MLG GameBattles 2K Series throughout 2017, Splyce have proven themselves to be a force to be reckoned with. Combine this with OpTic’s Friday performance blues, and you’ve got an attractive proposition on your hands. Also keep an eye out for Enigma6. These “online Gods” have surprised us more than once on LAN, and it would be naive to think they couldn’t do it again. With two 3-4th place finishes in MLG 2k series this year, it’s worth keeping an eye on the dark horse that is E6.
