It’s finally here. The closing weekend of Stage 1 is upon us and it won’t be long until the top teams face off for a share of the $250k prize pool. Before that though, there’s the small case of relegation to be sorted out. Challenger teams have been grinding through online events to land a place at Friday’s event to fight for a place in the CoD World League. The bottom four teams from Stage 1 will face off against them in a series of BO7 matches to prove who has the talent to deserve a place in Stage 2.

Stage 1 Teams

Team Kaliber – What a season its been for the tK squad. They missed out on a place in Finals by a single match, and even had a higher map win percentage than 8th place TSM. Now, the dark clouds have really moved in. Goonjar has been denied entry in the US due to not possessing a P1 visa. It seems from all indications at this time, tK may need to forfeit their matches and automatically lose their place in Stage 2.

Dream Team – dT are another squad with a fairly impressive map win percentage that missed out on a top 8 finish, possibly indicating an inability to close out a series under pressure or a lacking in SnD. Either way, with a 3 win streak at the end of Stage 1, Dream Team will have high hopes moving into their game about Cloud9 Eclipse.

H2k Gaming – In stark contrast to dT, H2k Gaming have really had a disappointing close to Stage 1. A 6 loss lose streak looms overhead while they face off against a talented Team Liquid squad.

Counter Logic Gaming – It’s also been a tough introduction to Call of Duty for CLG. Just 6 wins in 22 matches sees them take the bottom spot despite a 42.5% map win percentage, indicating once again a lack of ability to win map 5 SnD. CLG will be facing off against Cloud9, who have taken the top seed coming into this event.

The Challengers

KingPapey – Nelson, Examples, Jonny, Royalty

Cloud9 Eclipse – SiLLY, Dedo, Assault, Swarley

Team Liquid – MerK, Burnsoff, Apathy, StuDyy

Cloud9 – Havok, LllamaGod, Mochila, Happy
