EGL Open London 2016 - $25,000 CWL Challenge Division Event Preview • Call of Duty Betting

Finally, events are coming in thick and fast after a quiet couple of months for Call of Duty esports. This weekend (5^th-6^th March), the European Gaming League are putting $25k on the line, in the first LAN “Challenge Division” event. Lucky for us, Pro Division teams such as Millenium, LDLC and TCM will also be in attendance, giving us a preview of what we can expect when amateur teams go head-to-head with the Pro Division teams at the Stage 1 Relegation event in just 3 weeks’ time.

As the only team attending EGL who are guaranteed to be in the relegation tournament, it’s going to be an important weekend for Team LDLC, who will be looking to scope out the competition before facing off in Cologne.

Competition from Challenger Division teams is going to be fierce. Team Tempo come into the event with the 9^th seed, topping the Challenger Division with 350 points. 10^th seed is taken by Ironide Gaming, a squad who just last week took Team Vitality to a map 5 in the Challenger Cup. Looking further down the seeds, a whole host of top European orgs will be fighting for glory. These include Exterus, Menace, HyperGames and undoubted fan favourites, FAB eSports. FabE will be hoping for a solid placing this weekend, currently only holding onto the 23^rd seed at EGL, with players such as Barca only accumulating 75 points in the Challenger Division so far. While things may seem bleak, it’s important to note that a huge number of points are on offer for the top teams this weekend.

3^rd Place – $2,500 (per team) / 1100 Points (per player)

4^th Place – $2,500 (per team) / 900 Points (per player)

5^th-6^th Place – $1,250 (per team) / 800 Points (per player)

7^th-8^th Place – 700 Points (per player)

9^th-12^th – 550 Points (per player)

13^th-16^th – 450 Points (per Player)

17^th-24^th – 300 Points (per Player)

25^th-32^nd – 200 Points (per Player)

Looking towards the pro teams, all eyes are on Vitality. After a tough CWL season fighting to avoid the relegation zone, a win for the French giants would certainly be a relief for increasingly concerned fans. The biggest story of Stage 1 has been between Infused and Millenium. Both teams sit at 13-3 in the CoD World League, with Infused riding a 10 win streak. Swanny and his squad will be keen to derail Infused’s momentum before moving into Stage 1 Finals later this month. Epsilon, Splyce and ExceL will also be hungry to put a dent in the top dogs’ confidence.
